Appeared at the beginning of the 19th century, panoramic wallpapers were an exclusively French creation. Made by means of thousands carved wood-blocks, they were very successful in France and worldwide, until the advent of photography. After having selected our patterns from the rich collections of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs de Paris, we have made, with loving care, a meticulous restoration to give them a new contemporary life.
In the late 18th and in the 19th centuries, linked to an extraordinary flourishing in their production, wallpapers became very fashionable in decoration. This production, in tune with the style and taste of time, was based both on the great strengths of decorative artists and designers, and on a skilled workforce of the highest calibre. From the rich collections of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs de Paris, we have chosen the more spectacular ones, those whose exuberance and incredible beauty meet the modern required form.
To revive in another way the wallpapers and panoramic wallpapers of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs de Paris and the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, we have designed a refined and unconventional range of stationery. Ivoire paper, sewn cardboard binding, matching thread color, different cover on each side… The luxurious notebooks we are offering are a byway of complicity to appropriate the spirit of those wonderful 18th and 19th centuries patterns in our everyday life, while staying in the paper universe.
