The drawings of this panoramic come from the Champs-sur-Marne château (near Paris), more specifically from the Cahen d'Anvers' bathroom, who became owners of the château in 1895. This floral decor was painted in the taste of the 18th century, in coherence with the paintings of Christophe Huet adorning the "Cabinet en Camaïeu", of which we also offer a reproduction.
To bring these decors back to life, Le Grand Siècle carried out a shooting at the Champs-sur-Marne château in order to photograph all the woodwork in a perfect definition. Once digitized, we patiently restored them to give them back all their beauty. The wood veins, the traces of paint and the marks of time are enhanced by the use of gold: a way of highlighting the antique, pictorial and precious character. This gold leaf wallpaper is entirely handmade. For its printing, a backing white layer is applied before the colors are printed, which gives the patterns a beautiful lacquered effect. Fragile, this wallpaper requires professional installation.

This panoramic is a composition of the different painted decorations located in the high and low parts of the walls and doors of the bathroom of the castle of Champs-sur-Marne (cf Interesting Facts). Shrubs, fruit trees, dragonflies and flowers were thus combined and alternated to compose a poetic and delicate ensemble. The decor was then associated with a goldleaf wallpaper to emphasize its preciousness. Gold appears by touch, worked like an ancient wall that would have undergone the passage of time with its golden streaks and stripes.
Due to its artisanal manufacture, this gold leaf wallpaper is very fragile and requires hanging by a professional. Our wallpapers are hung in 3 stages: the preparation of the wall, its pasting, and the hanging. The strips are hung edge to edge and from left to right in the order indicated on the assembly plan supplied with the rolls. To find out more, consult our Hanging instructions page.
Handmade with real gold leaf laid on a base of non-woven wallpaper, gold leaf wallpaper is precious, fragile and not washable.
